The Other Side Of A Coin

I woke up earlier than usual to catch the Citi Hopa bus taking us to Mathare North 4B for clean-up &door-to-door outreach organized by UON- C.U.As usual in the vehicle I don't chat alot,I just like enjoying the ride while contemplating about different issues about life.Out of the gate past Kabete,Spring valley,Westlands&Parklands I sensed the importance of being ultra rich by the type of housing stuctures put in place.Past Ngara road I felt life in that area people could be fairly rich.In parkroad &Pangani areas life is Ok...

And the bus stopped at the gate-Outreach Ministry at Mathare.I remembered  my late Grandpa had spent part of his life at some place around and I had paid him a visit In 2001 having refused to come out of that place(alikuwa hardcore)...We were given directions and started our work clearing the trenches giving motivation to students and Wenyeji. My surprise was the poor sanitation in that place-Food being cooked along the dirty paths,No or very few but charged toilets,Houses(I think I should not call yhem houses but structures),Congestion,Chang'aas and lots of many other problems finally we held an open crusade and left.

As we were coming back to campus I ASKED MYSELF SEVERAL QUESTION:
1.Is life not hopeless amongst Mathare residents?
2.If the people living in the posh places I had seen in the morning were brought to Mathare and those from
Mathare taken to the posh places,How would Mathare look like & the posh places after some years?
3.If one had his village home & land what would he go looking at Mathare?
4.Do I remember to give thanks to God for the life I am living and pray He can engage my mind into thinkin
how I can live in those places in Nairobi West?
5.I think it is important to orient your child in what you would wish him to be or what do say?
6.Where was there no government when this slums were coming up?
I felt disheartened by that life and felt We are the ones to bring the change.

All the same the experiences taught me to appreciate life, there are people living in bad conditions.
