Getting Things Done!
On a Saturday
4:30pm.
Randy alighted from the matatu.
Way behind the road to take him home, he buys a piece of sugarcane, chopped into small pieces.
He gently started walking through a dusty pathway, his eyes on the ground, sugarcane at hand and giving way to people and on coming motorists.
He was headed to his 'spot', an open space that gives him a view of the posh places of Kasarani, Thika Road and Githurai.
'Thank God this field has not been grabbed!, he sighed.
Though not big, it's enough for kids to play soccer on.
Away from the field, he sat on a stone.
He started chewing the pieces of sugar cane.
The breeze was cool, with a mild sunshine.
It felt amazing.
Randy has been coming to this spot almost every weekend. But today was different. Previously, he sentimentally made declarations and affirmations. He is forever challenged by the magnificent property structures.
The big question that always rings his mind from this spot is;
'Why not me? Can't I too, own such properties?'
'Why not me? Can't I too, own such properties?'
'Today, it's no longer going to be wishful thinking and fantasy, I have to start coming up with the right strategies!' He exclaimed in monologue.
He chewed the last piece of sugarcane, took his sticky note book and held out his pen.
He didn't know what to write. He zigzagged his pen and placed the note pad on his left lap.
He looked up and stared at the beauty in the skies and the many cars passing through Thika Road.
A thought hit him. He held the note as he wrote down;
How, When, Who, What, Where?
He stared at what he had written. These questions ran in his mind;
#What do you want in life?
#How will you go about achieving it - the process and procedure?
#Where is the most convenient place to facilitate its achievement?
#Who do I need to work with to achieve it?
#When do I need it?
He felt like it was a eureka thought. But then those questions needed answers, and the journey had just began.
He knows perfectly well that the race is not for the swift nor the battle to the mighty, but he knows life has a lot to do with doing the right thing at the right time, at the right place, with the right people for there is season for everything under the sun.
The night had began setting in so he had to be on the move,but he had found a starting point.
